Scarce Antique C1900-1909 A B P Irving Cut Glass Co.
‘WHITE ROSE No. 154’ TUMBLER w/ 2 Images, Rare Intaglio,
Cross Hatching by the Irving Cut Glass Company of Honesdale , PA.
This company was in business from 1900 until sometime in 1933.
The INTAGLIO work was popular about 1900 but little of it appeared
in America until near the end of the Brilliant Period. The blanks had
to be of the highest quality and heavy to take the deep incisions.
The WHITE ROSE is this company's most famous pattern, and it alone
kept IRVING in business for quite some time. This pattern is different
from other "rose" designs from the ABP, in that the petals of the rose
are left "gray" cut (unpolished) and the centers are small hob stars
with faceted buttons.
( Ref:) Each rose has an asymmetrical, octagonal center surrounded
by 8 isosceles triangles, resulting in a stunning geodesic circle that
radiates diamond-like sparkles from every cut.
MEASURES 4” Tall x 3” di at the rim.
